Local Bereavement Charity Raises over £13k

Norwich and Central Norfolk Cruse Bereavement Care held its Spring Charity Ball on Friday 20th April at Norwich City Football Club. The evening was opened by President of Norwich Cruse, William Armstrong and was hosted by Bryan Baxter from The Auction House. 200 guests attended, including local supporters, organisations and volunteers who all enjoyed a 3-course meal and entertainment by local band Scratch the Cat. The evening raised over £13,500 which will be used to fund the vital work of the charity supporting local bereaved people.

Jane Goody, Chair of Norwich Cruse said ‘I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to all of the guests who attended, and to those individuals and local organisations who contributed to the ball. The generosity of the Norwich and Norfolk community will really make a difference to those local people who are affected by bereavement. As a self-funded charity we rely on these fundraising events to continue our vital work supporting local bereaved people in our community. We are absolutely delighted to have raised so much.’

The charity has over 65 volunteers working locally to support bereaved people. It offers a range of services including one-to-one support, a telephone enquiry line, a Monday morning social group and much more.

They have also recently appointed a new part time Fundraiser. Rebecca Bushell joins the team from local testicular cancer charity, It’s On The Ball, where she was Fundraising Coordinator.  Rebecca’s role will be to plan a variety of fundraising events, engage with local people and organisations to create partnership opportunities and increase the charity’s profile.  Rebecca said ‘I am delighted to be joining Norwich Cruse. Bereavement affects us all at some point and I feel extremely passionate about promoting the services Norwich Cruse offer. I am looking forward to meeting and working with a variety of supporters and local organisations over the coming months to explore ways we can collaborate so we can continue to grow and develop the support we offer to bereaved people.’
