It’s been a few years since we last visited The Animal Ark (Great Witchingham, Norfolk) so as we started to prepare our factfile ahead of a visit we were disappointed to find out it has closed.

Dating back to 1963 when it was opened by the naturalist Philip Wayre OBE, The Animal Ark (previously known as Great Witchingham Wildlife Park and also as the Norfolk Wildlife Centre & Country Park) many people in Norfolk will have fond memories of this place. It hasn’t had the best of fortune in the last few years, and was in need of a bit of refurbishment. There was signs that matters were improving on our last visit a couple of years ago, so I do hope they reopen and can get it back to its hay-day.
