Suffering with the sniffles

Sniff sniff, cough cough, splutter! Aaargh! My eyes are sore! Having hay fever is not much fun, but I find most of the time it is manageable. However, recently the pollen levels seem to have gone through the roof; At least as far am I’m concerned because over the last few days I’ve turned in to a sneeze-machine. After dosing up on tablets, sprays, cold cures and cough sweets I feel a little bit more human. Well, enough to do some work anyway!

According to the Met Office, the pollen count season is normally March to August. However, it can start as early as January and end as late as November.

Right now it looks like itis grass pollen that’s so strong; Not great when the lawn needs mowing but I can’t walk two metres without ker-chooing! The forecast predicts the grass pollen levels remaining high in Norwich and Norfolk in to next week. On the bright side the levels are much lower towards the coast, so looks like we’ll have to ditch the lawnmower, get our bucket and spade out and head out to visit Norfolk’s seaside gems!

Are you a hay fever sufferer too? Do you have any local Norfolk-based remedies (e.g. local honey) that work for you?  Let us know in the comments section.

We came across this interesting infographic from the Met Office earlier and thought it would be quite useful to share for fellow hay fever sufferers.
