Pensthorpe wildlife update

We have visited Pensthorpe many times in the past, and you can read our previous review here.

This update is going to be photo-heavy, rather than wordy.  Before we get started, let me just state that this visit produced some of my favourite shots that we’eve ever taken at Pensthorpe. It was glorious summer’s day (yeah, I know, bit late posting) and pointing my camera lots of times resulted in a few real gems (out of hundreds of photos taken on the day.).  So, here are a few of my favourite nature pictures below.

The Millennium Garden looks stunning, providing a carpet of colour for insects and butterflies.

Indeed, here’s one of several great butterfly pictures I took on the day.

Red Squirresl are a rare site in England nowadays. Pensthorpe have a breeding programme for Red Squirrels and the little curious fellows like to come and take a close look at the humans gawping at them!

Wildrootz is a great outdoor play area for kids. It’s loads of fun to explore.

Pond-skimming – great fun for kids and adults!

Common Blue Damselfly – tricky to photograph due to them flitting around a lot. By the time you’ve zoomed in the blighters move!!!

Another butterfly.

Nope – not the same picture as above. I had to look at it a few times to check!

Erm….another Common Blue Damselfly. Did I say they were tricky to photograph? Clearly it’s easy peasy!

There were too many to put them on all on here. So we have added a bunch more pictures of Pensthorpe Nature Reserve on the NorfolkPlaces Facebook page too.
