Fritton Lake

As part of the vast Somerleyton Estate, Fritton Lake is located in the South East of Norfolk, less than 10 miles from the coastal towns of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

There’s so many different activities to do at Fritton Lake, providing families with great variety and choice on a fun day out. In fact, this did cause NorfolkPlaces a little problem – we actually struggled to decide what to do first!

Parents Review
We visited Fritton Lake in late October; it was a cold day but dry and then sun bravely battled with the clouds to coat us with bursts of warm rays. The perfect day to spend a few hours outside.

As we arrived at lunchtime we started off with a delightful meal at Fritton House Hotel, before letting the kids loose in the Adventure Playground area. They loved playing in the castle and coming down the slides, but it wasn’t long before they spotted the jumping pillow. These look great fun – really tempted to have a go myself!

After eventually persuading the kids to come off the jumping pillows (via a quick detour through the Adventure Playground!) we followed one of the woodland walks. There was some interesting things to see along the way, including a duck decoy, the lake, the Victorian garden, golf course and pony rides.

I think we could’ve easily spent more time there and plan to go back soon (when it’s a bit warmer) so we can row on the lake.

Field Notes
Before you arrive have a good idea what you want to do – there’s lots to choose from so it is a good idea to know what activities there are and have an idea what you would like to do

If you’re walking near the lake keep an eye on the kids, and on wet days wellies might be wise.

Over the winter months entry is via Fritton House Hotel – if you have a meal here your entry to Firtton Lake is included! (correct at the time of writing)
