Yesterday we spent a fun-filled few hours at Easton College campus for a Family Fun Day. There was plenty of things to do, including sports, trying out science equipment, a spot of farming, checking out some awesome farm machinery and veteran cars and loads of other stuff. Ooh, and hog roast too (winner!)

The aim of the day was to explore the campus and finding out what goes on at the College. We arrived late morning; There was a already a very good turn out at the event, and the tractor trailer rides were proving very popular. With 2 young boys who don’t do sitting down for long we opted to zip around on foot instead!

The boys are pretty sporty, so their main aim was to check out all the sports stuff. Whilst we had more educational aims for the day it seemed easier to let them do the sport stuff first and burn off a bit of energy.

This inflatable thing-a-me-bob is cool! It’s like a big version of table football with people. At first it was only Luke and Ben playing on it, but after a few minutes some other kids decided to join the inflatable “créche” and a full-scale match ensued. Lots of great fun, though it was difficult to get them to leave the game!

Football’s have some magnetic hold over these kids! After dragging them away from one football game it wasn’t long before they found another!

I think we actually spent as much or more time going around the non-sporty stuff. The boys really enjoyed the activities they had a go at and the event really helped to show the range of courses on offer at the college. Ben’s favourite activity was Owl pellet dissection and Luke’s was analysing pond dipping critters under a microscope. This last activity even proved he’s learnt some things in biology lessons at school too!

Harvest mice – Whoah they are tiny and cute. Had to point out to the boys that they are not available in the pet shop!
