Last chance to secure your place in foam-tastic new fun run
There are just days remaining until Norwich is awash with bubbles for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Bubble Rush is a 5k fun run with a difference as participants head off amongst a sea of bubbles, before passing four bubble stations where cannons pump out coloured foam to create a four-foot (1.2-metre) deep bubble bath!
So far over 1,600 people have signed up for the bubble bonanza, to take place at Earlham Park on Saturday (5 May). Runners will go off in two waves, with the first starting at 11am and the second at noon. Final spaces are available until the end of Thursday.
Emma Benstead, EACH Norfolk Events Fundraiser, said: “We’re so excited to debut this event in Norwich and equally thrilled so many people will be joining us. It’s sure to be a spectacular sight and lots of fun for all involved.
“There’s no race element, so participants are welcome to run, jog, walk, dance or toddle through the foam. It’s a completely natural and safe mixture.
“Merchandise, catering and other amusements mean this is sure to be a great family day out. Buy your tickets now to make sure you’re among those soaking up the colourful atmosphere!”

Emma said: “We’d like everyone to raise as much money as possible, as registration fees help cover the costs of your participation.
“All funds raised from this event will go towards the nook appeal, our campaign to raise £10 million and build a new hospice in Framingham Earl, transforming children’s palliative care for Norfolk.”
Children aged under four can take part for free. Those aged under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

EACH’s nook appeal to benefit from Eaton Park Miniature Railway charity day this bank holiday
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is to once again receive a day of support from Eaton Park Miniature Railway.
The attraction, run by the Norwich & District Society of Model Engineers (N&DSME), is open to families on various dates throughout spring and summer. It has given the proceeds from one day in each of the last three years to EACH, collecting £2,331 in total for the charity’s nook appeal.
The good cuse will this year benefit from train rides on Monday, 7 May. Families will be able to take part in a tombola and a matchbox game, featuring both prizes for children and adults, whilst they wait to board. The activities will be hosted by members of the nook friends group.
Judith Sykes, who chairs the group, said: “The miniature railway is a fantastic family attraction and it’s always a delight to spend the day there. We couldn’t be more grateful to volunteers of the N&DSME for their continued support of the nook appeal and look forward to another great day this bank holiday.”
The miniature railway supports various charities each year, raising over £3,500 in 2017 – the N&DSME hopes to repeat that this year. Services on Monday will run between 1pm and 5pm, weather permitting.

Mile Cross Primary surpasses nook schools project target after ‘Fit Friday’ exertions
The nook appeal has been supported by many hundreds of individuals, community groups and businesses across Norfolk since it began back in November 2014 – and now schools are ramping up their involvement.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is running the appeal to raise £10 million for a new hospice in Framingham Earl and wants schools to try and collect £400 each towards the cost of a soft play room.
Mile Cross Primary School in Norwich is among 15 currently on board. Pupils, parents and staff recently took part in a ‘Fit Friday’, running a mile before school and bringing in loose change for a snail trail, meaning the school surpassed its target.
Toby Whelan, Deputy Head, said: “The energy around the school, seeing so many parents and children place coins on the snail until we couldn’t tell it was a snail anymore, was noticeable and we all got a great sense of achievement.
“Despite our school being in an area of high deprivation, we’re always humbled and proud of the work our children, staff and community take on to raise money for a great amount of charities throughout the year.”

“This is a really great opportunity for schools across Norfolk to play their part in helping build what will be a truly amazing place for children and families going through the hardest of journeys.
