Norwich and King’s Lynn set for bubble bonanza as EACH announces foam-tastic new fun run

Norwich and King’s Lynn will be awash with bubbles when East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) brings an exciting new fundraiser to two of Norfolk’s

Bubble Rush is a 5k fun run with a difference as participants head off amongst a sea of bubbles, before passing four bubble stations where cannons pump out coloured foam to create a four-foot (1.2-metre) deep bubble bath!

EACH will be hosting the event at Earlham Park on Saturday, 5 May. Runners will go off in two waves, with the first starting at 11am and the second at noon.

Emma Benstead, EACH Norfolk Events Fundraiser, said: “This new event is sure to be a spectacular sight and lots of fun for all involved – we can’t wait!

“There’s no race element, so participants are welcome to run, jog, walk, dance or toddle through the foam. It’s a completely natural and safe mixture.

“Merchandise, catering and other amusements mean this is sure to be a great family day out. Come along and soak up the colourful atmosphere!”

The Norwich Bubble Rush is being sponsored by Bateman Groundworks, and the King’s Lynn Bubble Rush is being sponsored by Vancouver Quarter and Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure.

Emma said: “We’d like everyone to raise as much money as possible, as registration fees help cover the costs of your participation.

“All funds raised from this event will go towards the nook appeal, our campaign to raise £10 million and build a new hospice in Framingham Earl, transforming children’s palliative care for Norfolk.”

Children aged under four can take part for free. Those aged under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Juddmonte Farms – home to EACH Ambassador Frankel – signs up to charity’s Buy a Brick campaign

Juddmonte Farms has become the latest major supporter of Buy a Brick, the online fundraising initiative to support building of a new children’s hospice in Norfolk.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) launched the campaign on the same November day that foundations were dug out for its purpose-built hospice in Framingham Earl.

Work started after the nook appeal reached £7 million. EACH needs to raise £10 million in total and Buy a Brick is among the simplest but most effective ways of helping it raise the remaining funds.

So far individuals, community groups and businesses have bought 98 bricks, bringing in £16,420.

Juddmonte Farms has contributed £1,000 by buying a special gold brick. The award-winning horse breeding farm in Newmarket is home to legendary stallion Frankel, who is an EACH Ambassador.

We’re very pleased to donate a gold brick and look forward to continuing our support of this fantastic charity that provides such an excellent service to local children and their families.”

Hannah Bloom, EACH’s Capital Appeal Project Lead for the nook, said: “Juddmonte’s support of EACH has always been fantastic and we’re delighted it’s now extending its support to Buy a Brick, joining the New Homes Group and Ridgeons in buying a gold brick.

“The nook is being built on a five-acre site. It will be spread across a single floor, have more areas for clinical care than our current Norfolk hospice in Quidenham, a hydrotherapy pool, state-of-the-art sensory room, larger and better equipped en-suite bedrooms, dedicated therapy rooms and much more. It really will transform children’s palliative care in the county.”

Bricks can be bought in memory of a loved one, as a gift or to visibly show support, for £20 – name on a brick – £100 – name alongside a message – £500 – name, message and an image or logo – or £1,000 – a special GOLD brick for those who really want to stand out. EACH receives warm welcome as it opens new Norwich shop

A new East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) shop in Norwich was declared officially open this morning.

EACH recently acquired the old Arthritis Research UK shop in Bowthorpe Main Centre and customers flocked through the doors, spending £475 in the first hour.

Michelle Hinton, EACH Shop Manager, cut the ribbon. She said: “We’re delighted to have opened! This is our fourth shop in Norwich and the till has been ringing since we opened the doors. We’ve had such great support since announcing our plans to move here and we’re confident the nearby community will now get behind us – don’t forget we’re open seven days a week! Please do get in touch if you have any good-quality items to donate or a few hours spare to volunteer.”

The shop opening was EACH’s second of 2018 after the charity launched its third outlet in Norwich, in Plumstead Road, last month.

EACH’s retail portfolio now consists of 28 shops, with 12 of those in Norfolk. The other two in Norwich are in Aylsham Road and Unthank Road.

Donations of the following clean and good-quality goods are always welcomed: clothing, bric-a-brac, modern paperbacks, toys, jewellery, DVDs/CDs, household linens, retro and vintage clothes and small electrical items. These can be dropped off at the Bowthorpe shop now.

EACH also needs donations of good-quality furniture and can collect it free of charge if you are unable to transport it yourself. You can contact its Retail Distribution Centre on 01842 821620 for more information.

All money raised by EACH shops helps the charity continue providing care for over 360 children and young people with life-threatening conditions, and support for their families. In the past financial year, the shops generated an impressive profit of over £900,000.

To put into context the difference just a small donation to a shop can make to the vital work EACH does, here are some examples of what your donation could pay for:

• A top, skirt or pair of trousers worth £5 could pay for art supplies for a session of art therapy
• A tea set worth £10 could fund a nursing care kit
• A nice wedding hat or jacket worth £20 could pay for a support group for siblings
• An item of good-quality furniture or prom dress worth £35 could pay for an hour of specialist care.
