Cycle Hire now at Blickling Estate

New fleet of bikes arrive at Blickling Estate, as cycle hire scheme aims to make it easier for people to get cycling

The National Trust have partnered with British Cycling and HSBC UK to come up with a low-cost and easy solution to get more people cycling.

Blickling Estate’s cycle hire is now open daily with a new fleet of bikes suitable for all ages, so visitors can simply turn up without the worry about bringing their own wheels. And to encourage more people to take up cycling, prices start from as little as £3.[1]

HSBC UK is lead partner to British Cycling, with a focus on getting more people on bikes and the aim to encourage a greener, fitter, healthier country. Whether you’re regular cyclists or newcomers to two wheels, the new scheme at Blickling Estate offers the perfect opportunity for the whole family to let off steam and get fit in traffic-free and beautiful surroundings.

Katie Patterson, Blickling’s cycle hire supervisor said; “The hire kit will include everything for a freewheeling expedition including helmets, trailers for towing youngsters or that delicious picnic hamper and a range of adults and children’s bikes. We hope for many it will be an opportunity to get back into cycling or give it a go for the first time.”

The launch of this new partnership follows on from the opening of a multi-use trail at Blickling in 2017. Supported by Sport England, the seven kilometre trail is enabling cyclists, walkers and adapted wheelchair users to explore the wider estate in all weathers, all year round.

With over 4,600 acres of stunning parkland in the care of the National Trust at Blickling, highlights on the trail include ancient woodland, the Tower that was once used by the 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire as a grandstand, and the striking pyramid Mausoleum. Not to mention the sweeping views over the lake, back towards the hall.

Cycle hire is open daily from 10am and is located next to visitor reception, with the way-marked trail starting and finishing at Muddy Boots Café. [2] Visitors can choose from a selection of adult and children’s bikes, with balance bikes and tag-alongs ideal for family groups.

[1] Bike hire starts at £3 for balance bikes, with adult and children’s bikes available to hire for £4, for 3 hours or £6 for the whole day. There are more choices, combinations to choose from on arrival.

[2] Blickling Estate’s parkland is open daily. However, some facilities, such as cycle hire will be closed on 24 & 25 December.
