The challenges of parenthood

When the boys were younger it was so much easier to go out for a fun family day out on a whim. Afterall, there are absolutely loads of places to go to in Norfolk and NorfolkPlaces is testimony to this.

However, in the past few months it’s all gone a bit manic and we have to plan weeks in advance now if we want to go anywhere! Ok, the kids are getting older and the places they are happy going to have changed but the main obstacle to our family days out is FOOTBALL!

Now, I love football. If a ball is within a few feet of me my leg inexplicably stretches out to retrieve the ball in order to do some keepie-uppies, a pass or a big kick. It’s ingrained. And my boys love footy too. No problem, eh? Well, no and yes. You see, football now dominates our weeks because training sessions and games occur 3 or 4 days a week for each child. Luckily, mainly on the same day. But throw in a couple of other kids-club activities and suddenly family time is at a premium.

The good news is we still have the afternoons on the weekend, but cleaning / tidying / gardening / other adult stuff are vying for this time too!

This is a big part of the reason why our blog posts have been a bit scarce recently. Well, that and the additional need to maintain the expanded site (place listings and events.)

So, life is a bit hectic at the moment in the NorfolkPlaces domicile but we do have more reviews planned and indeed we also have a backlog of ones to add. Just gotta find the time….. I suppose I could’ve done one instead of writing this article! :o)

As a website we have expanded a lot in since our inception in 2011, particularly since the end of 2013 when our place and event listings commenced. So much so that I’ve decided to it’s time to get some help. We’re looking for contributors – whether you want to go out and review an indoor play centre, a restaurant, a show, or you want to write about a lovely walk in Norfolk we’re keen to hear from you.  We do this website because we love Norfolk and want to promote our lovely county, and we hope you’ll be equally keen to share your appreciation for everything Norfolk.
