On a recent visit to Banham Zoo we took our camera along to snap a few pictures of new features that have appeared since we last visited.
It was a cold winters day in December and a good opportunity to walk off some of the festive excesses!
First up is the Lemur Encounter, which we mentioned in our previous update. If you’re visiting the Zoo in the wintry months the Lemur Encounter only opens on request.
Another attraction to open at Banham Zoo in 2011 was Zarafa Heights SkyTrek, an exciting aerial trekking across a series of bridges and rope walks followed by a speedy zip wire down. This is closed during the winter months and opens again early in the year. Not sure if we’ve got the head for heights to try this out ourselves but we snapped a couple of pictures to give you an idea what it looked like.
In 2012 Banham Zoo will be opening a new breeding centre and walk-through aviary to accommodate Rainbox Lorikeets. Here’s a couple of pictures to show how the building works are progressing.
