Round Norfolk Relay Team raise over £16k

It was a very tough and emotional 36hrs but they got there: the Round Norfolk Relay Team finished their non-stop relay at 4.30pm on Easter Saturday running through Cromer to the Hall as a team with Jess Cabbell Manners and Anna Mason leading the pack in to a large crowd of supporters including old teachers, family and friends. Anna had just completed her 10 mile stint when included Beeston Bump and miles of shingle beach at Weybourne. Jess had been running, cycling alongside and supporting in the minibus for the whole event having been the main organiser, having been overwhelmed by all the support and her own pride she wasn’t tired as they all ran in to the finish.Freya Barlow Trust

The team have now raised well over £16,000 for The Freya Barlow Trust via www.gofundme.com/rnrforfreya ,  a Leukaemia Charity Trust aimed at helping victims around  Norfolk created by a friend of all of the runners just before she died.  The runners’ original target was £2,000. All donations were hugely appreciated and spurred the runners all on, especially ones running through Thetford forest at 12am on Good Friday or along Snettisham beach at 6 in the morning.  Running through the very different geographical corners of Norfolk reminded all the runners why they love the County but also that it is not flat!

It was hard but worth every one of the 400,000 steps for the team who carried the relay baton non-stop for 36hrs, especially after having felt so helpless against Cancer. All the money will go to giving palliative and psychological care to Leukaemia sufferers in the county who are in an ‘in-between’ age of 18-30 years old as their friend Freya believed there was a gap in this care when she was in Hospital.  The runners all want to extend a huge thank you for all the support they received and donations given as they know its all going towards a fantastic cause.
