Norwich FarmShare hosting Christmas Fair

Norwich FarmShare is hosting a Christmas Fair on 13th December at their new hub at Wensum Sports Centre
Christmas Carols, wreath-making, homemade goods! Norwich FarmShare is hosting a Christmas Fair on 13th December, 5-7pm, at their new hub at Wensum Sports Centre, 169a King Street. All are welcome to join for a bonanza of festive fun and homemade treats – all proceeds go to our favourite community farm.

Norwich FarmShare has recently moved to Wensum Sports Centre Charitable Association. Members now collect their shares (vegetables, fruit and eggs), enjoy tea and cake and play ping-pong together at the community-focused sports centre. These are two community groups who are working together to help local people meet local need.

The sports hall was closed in 2010 and re-opened after much campaigning, planning and hard work by volunteers who demanded and then created the opportunity for good indoor affordable sports in Norwich and have now secured a 20 year lease.

FarmShare is a community of Norwich food growers and eaters, providing fresh local vegetables to our members, connecting people with the land and giving them opportunities to get involved in food growing. We grow vegetables at our own farm in Whitlingham as well as buying from other local producers.Information about Norwich FarmShare and how to become a member is available at norwich-farmshare.
Doug Poynton from Wensum Sports Centre Charitable Foundation said ‘It was good to welcome the farm share group to WSC, another important community link. The veg looks so good in its natural state, free from all plastic packaging.’
FarmShare member and Sports Centre Trustee Lesley Grahame said ‘It gives me hope when I see what two small determined groups of people can achieve, and how they can support each other’s diverse interests.’
