Cheers! – Maris Otter 50 Beer Festival

New beers travelled across the globe to make the Maris Otter 50 Beer Festival a great success.

As well as new British brewed beers, beers were flown in from the USA, Japan & Spain. To get 50 new beers at a festival is an achievement in itself, but for all 50 to be of such high quality was testament to brewers passion for Maris Otter malt. The festival increased awareness and interest in Maris Otter barley, which is celebrating its 50th year, and broadened people’s knowledge that malt is the key ingredient in making beer.

The beer competition, voted for by the drinkers, put Norfolk brewer, Woodforde’s, on top with their Redcracker. Nearly all brewers received a vote such was the variety and quality on offer, but the top 3 were consistently voted for. The silver award went to Nene Valley Brewery, with Mid-Week Bender, and the bronze to Japan’s Baird Brewing Company, with Maris Otter 50 ESBaird.
