Couple hand good causes £3,600 after fundraising in daughter’s memory

A couple from west Norfolk have given £3,600 to good causes after a series of fundraising events in memory of their daughter.

Linda and John Green, who live in Stoke Ferry, lost their beloved Debbie at the age of just 12 on 22 July, 2011.

Linda said: “Debbie had Batten disease from the age of 12 months. East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) in Quidenham was very helpful from the early days of her diagnosis and was a great support over a long period of time, both with help at home and in the hospice. Together with Churchill Park School and the Rudham children’s ward [at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, both in King’s Lynn], EACH helped Debbie to have a very happy life.

Linda and John have since formed Debbies Spec4al Charity to raise money for those organisations close to their hearts and lately gave £900 each to EACH, Churchill Park, Rudham children’s ward and Sparks, the children’s medical research charity.

The money was raised through bingo, a sponsored walk, a Christmas party and more.

Big cheques were recently presented at EACH in Quidenham, on what would have been Debbie’s 19th birthday.

Linda and John always try to facilitate gifts to charities on Debbie’s birthday and have raised £1,650 for EACH over the last two years.
