Boost for EACH nook appeal

EACH nook appeal boosted by Freemasons’ £1,000 donation

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has been boosted in its appeal to build a new Norfolk hospice thanks to a donation from some of the county’s Freemasons.

Francis of Lorraine Lodge No 6906, based in Norwich, contributed £1,000 to the nook appeal at its charity giving night.

The occasion saw a total of £6,000 donated to 10 charities, those including Norfolk Carers Support and Norfolk Deaf Association.

Funds were raised by members and their friends and families at lodge meetings and social events. There were also some personal donations made.

Richard Pryor, Deputy Provincial Communications Officer, said: “These occasions give us the chance to hear how the money benefits the good work of the beneficiaries and we hope they get a better understanding of what we do in return.”

Charity Steward Peter Leggett and Worshipful Master David Clarke presented EACH nook appeal Community Fundraiser Tal Williams with a cheque.

Tal said: “A big thank you to everyone at Francis of Lorraine Lodge for their fantastic effort in raising money for the nook appeal.

“We have outgrown our current hospice in Quidenham and the nook will mean we’re able to provide care and support to even more Norfolk families at a time when they need it most.”

The nook will be built on a five-acre woodland site in Framingham Earl just south of Norwich and will offer services that are either currently unavailable or extremely limited at Quidenham.
