Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery
Built over 900 years ago by the Normans (during the time of William the Conqueror), Norwich Castle stands atop of a grassy mounds at the heart of the city of Norwich. The castle alone is a remarkable attraction, but this wonderful Norman keep is also a museum and art gallery and is jam-packed with historical artefacts and fine art.
Next to Norwich Castle is Castle Mall, a shopping centre with over 70 stores and a cinema. Also in reasonable strolling distance is Norwich Market (not to be confused with the Cattle Market that was next to Norwich Castle until Castle Mall was built in the mid 1990’s!) and several other museums such as Strangers Hall, Dragon Hall and Bridewell Alley Museum.
